John Legend gave a virtual concert introducing his new album Bigger Love. The concert was hosted by Wave with the use of the Prime Xsens gloves.

John Legend was equipped with an Xsens suit to track his body movements. To empower the suit Wave made use of the Prime Xsens gloves to animate the individual fingers. Due to the direct implementation of the Manus gloves inside of Xsens MVN software, there was no major change in the pipeline created for this project.

The Manus Prime Xsens gloves were featured during an episode of T-Pain School of Business. In this episode T-Pain gives a virtual concert wearing an Xsens suit together with the Prime Xsens gloves to animate his album mascot in real-time.

T-Pain was a visitor at Wave who, during the COVID-19, supply fans with virtual concerts with artists from various genres. Wave uses the Xsens technology, including our gloves, to do motion capture on the move.

The Prime Xsens series are integrated into MVN Animate. That way, the motion capture industry has more freedom of how and where to do the capturing.

Bringing The 2019 European Games Mascot to Life

The 2020 European Games mascot was brought alive by Asterman Digital Production using the Prime Xsens glove together with an Xsens suit. During the official presentation “The Flame of Peace”, the 3D-model of the mascot Lesik accompanied the participants as the co-host.

Asterman adopted Xsens MVN Animate to render the mascot in real-time, creating a CG co-host. Motion capture has to include accurate face, body and hand tracking. The Xsens MVN suit was used to record body movement, while the Prime Xsens gloves captured accurate hand and finger movement. Together with facial motion capture, these products brought the mascot Lesik alive. The production was completed within two days, by using user-friendly motion capture technologies provided by Manus VR and Xsens. The actor playing Lesik was based in a small room behind the live stage. He was able to react to every question instantly by watching the audience via broadcast. There was no need for a large-scale setup.

Jack VR is an immersive VR movie experience made by Baobab Studios and director Mathias Chelebourg. A re-imagined fairytale world and a unique and visionary VR experience.

Baobab Studios: A Movie Experience Like No Other

The goal was to create a cinematic VR-experience with a live actor. With a Motion Capture solution by OptiTrack, the actor could instantly transform into a character in the virtual world and interact with the public.

A major part of acting is the use of hands. Gestures strengthen the emotions. Being able to use the hands freely during the experience was important. Another requirement was for the actor being able to interact with physical props.

Different obstacles had to be overcome to get this experience to work. The hand-tracking solution had to be compatible with OptiTrack, have a long-range, the ability to interact with props and good battery life.

The Manus VR Gloves eliminate all of these obstacles. Our gloves are compatible with multiple MoCap systems such as VICON, Xsens, ART and of course OptiTrack. With an optimal range of up to 20 meters, no limits for interaction with props and 4-6 hour battery life the gloves were the perfect fit for the Jack VR-experience.
